West Chester Nazarene Christian School is a ministry of West Chester Church of the Nazarene, committed to the teaching and nurturing of children in Christian atmosphere. Equal value is placed on all aspects of a child’s growth and development: mental, social, emotional, physical and spiritual. We believe in and seek to provide a healthy loving environment where each child can grow to his/her fullest potential.
Our Christian Education program provides each child with these age-appropriate skills: to make sound decisions, to create and strengthen family and community ties, to establish moral and ethical beliefs, to strengthen motor development, to develop self discipline and self control and to understand God from a healthy, Christian perspective. The child’s home, church and school experiences are all vital and important in providing a foundation for life. Recognizing that the home is the primary source of nurture, the West Chester Nazarene Christian School seeks to work with the parents to provide the kind of foundation that will help develop a meaningful, constructive lifestyle – one which includes a daily walk with God.
What are the objectives at WCNCS?
MENTAL: To provide each child with stimulating activities and lessons which will facilitate creative thinking, problem solving, experimenting and critical evaluation – all at each child’s level of development.
SOCIAL: To provide a noncompetitive environment where each child can feel unconditionally loved, accepted and respected.
EMOTIONAL: To help each child develop a healthy self image and discover his/her on uniqueness and self worth.
PHYSICAL: To provide an environment where each child can develop physical coordination.
SPIRITUAL: To teach each child basic truths of the Christian faith at the child’s level of understanding. We present a loving and caring God who is intimately concerned with our lives.
What is the Christian aspect of the program?
As stated in our philosophy, West Chester Nazarene Christian School is strongly committed to the spiritual development of children in our school. We seek to provide each child with a basic understanding of the Christian faith through such methods as Bible stories, songs, games and activities. Included in our Christian curriculum is a weekly ‘chapel’ service. The children and staff gather in the sanctuary to participate in singing and worship experiences geared specifically for the young child. Parents are always welcome to join us.
Organization
West Chester Nazarene Christian School is a nonprofit, incorporated body supervised and amenable to the official body of the West Chester Church of the Nazarene within whose facilities we are housed. A director gives overall immediate supervision and qualified teachers staff the daily operation. The school is set up to meet all state and local requirements. The premises, equipment and facilities of the school conform to all applicable safety and sanitary standards established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Licenses
West Chester Nazarene Christian School is certified as a parochial school with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare.
Hours of Operation
The school is open five days a week, Monday through Friday and operates between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
