WCNCS — Terrific Threes: Preschool
Age Requirements.
The preschool class is designed for children three years of age by September 1st of the current school year.
Curriculum.
Our preschool class is the first introduction children may have to school. Social activities are very important. Emphasis is placed upon social skills such as learning to share, listening and playing cooperatively, expanding verbal and non-verbal communication, and getting along with others. Learning order and a daily routine are important skills in these classes. Skill such as waiting our turn and walking in line are the first social skills to be taught. The children sing songs, learn finger plays, and enjoy children’s literature on a daily basis. They study holidays, seasons and the sciences on a monthly basis. The teachers apply hands-on, creative arts into the daily curriculum. Various modes and mediums are used to express creativity and develop fine motor skills. Academic skills include learning the colors, basic shapes, and numbers and counting concepts. Computers are also used in the classroom. Children’s programs allow the children to work individually as their skills allow. Preschool students have a lot of fun while they are socializing and learning.
